Jason Murphy - New Starter

Platform Smart are pleased to announce our latest team member, Jason Murphy.  Jason joins us as a PMO Delivery Manager and will be primarily focused initially on the Gatwick Account where he will support Chris Corker as Managing Consultant bringing some strong governance and controls to our fixed price projects and deliverables.  Jason brings with him a wealth of experience and a demonstrable track record in process improvements, project reporting and controls. We are delighted to have him on the team where he has already slotted well and is quickly getting up to speed and having a positive impact.

Can you give an overview of your career leading up to joining Platform Smart?
My career in a PMO / Project Management environment spans almost 20 years. Starting off at Nokia, then for Vertu (the luxury phone division of Nokia) I was involved in R&D telecoms development covering a range of materials, hardware, and software for several successful mobile phone launches.

I then moved to a Japanese company called JAE (Japan Aviation Electronics) as a Project Manager and was then promoted to PMO Manager. I was responsible for overseeing a team of Project Managers delivering a diverse range of projects such as Electric Vehicle engineering with Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover, IT systems and business change across our global business units.

What made you want to join Platform Smart?
Joining the Platform Smart team for me was an excellent opportunity to take the next step in my career. My role as PMO Delivery Manager will allow me to utilise the PMO experience I have acquired and contribute to the future success of the business.

What is something that you are looking forward to now that you have joined the team?
I’m looking forward to continuing getting to know and working with the team and I’m confident that moving forward my experience and skill set will allow me to make a positive change in the project delivery arena.

Has anything surprised you during your first few weeks with Platform Smart?
The modern approach to business and strong team ethos was evident to me within the first week. It’s a refreshing attitude and provides the opportunity to really make a difference.

Give us one interesting fact about yourself that we may not already know.
A major part of my life is music. I spent most weekends during the 90s partying the night away in various warehouses and bigger outside events. This led me to pursue my passion for DJ’ing and I have since got a DJ set up at home so I can still enjoy the music as unfortunately the nights spent partying are long gone!
